Preview – JPY Tokyo Core Consumer Price Index and JPY National Core Consumer Price Index YoY reports

Today, Thursday, 01-28-09 at 6:30 PM ET, the Japan Statistics Bureau will release the monthly JPY Tokyo Core Consumer Price Index and JPY National Core Consumer Price Index YoY reports

There are 2 additional reports as well.

The additional reports are:

JPY Jobless Rate
JPY Household Spending (YoY)

I did a “follow up” post of last months report. Click here to see what happened.

I will set up to trade the GBP/JPY currency pair if the two major reports come out in the same direction with the “actual” Tokyo Core Consumer Price Index having a difference of 0.2% or more from the “forecast“.

Last month I had a losing trade with the currency pair GBP/JPY – I neglected to record  the currency charts, but I will try again.

Here is what Is happening tomorrow:

JPY Tokyo Core Consumer Price Index YoY – Stats

Previous = -1.9%

Forecast = -1.8%

JPY National Core Consumer Price Index YoY – Stats

Previous = -1.7%

Forecast = -1.3%

Again, it appears that the two report “forecast” are not at odds .

I repeat, I will set up to trade the GBP/JPY currency pair – if both reports are not in conflict and there is a difference between the “actual” and the “forecast” of 0.2% or more.

Here is my set p for tomorrow:

JPY-4-30PM-01-28-10
Looking for a 0.2% difference
Actual > Forecast = Good for JPY
JPY Tokyo Core CPI y/y
——actual———-forecast———-previous
________________-1.8%________-1.9%
Out at -1.6% or higher SELL  GBP/JPY
Out at -2.0% or lower BUY  GBP/JPY

Actual > Forecast = Good for JPY
JPY National Core CPI y/y
——actual———-forecast———-previous
________________-1.3%________-1.7%

Watch that there is no conflict

I did post a “follow up” soon after, click here to see what happened.

The next scheduled release of these two reports on Thursday, 02-25-10 at 6:30 PM ET, at this point in time re will additional reports released at the same time.

Sometimes these schedules change!!!

I will probably post a “preview“ a day or two prior.

Stay tuned!
