On Thursday, 10-29-09 at 7:30 PM ET, the Japan Statistics Bureau will released the monthly JPY Tokyo Core Consumer Price Index and JPY National Core Consumer Price Index YoY reports

I posted a “preview” on Wednesday, 10-28-09, click here for a review.

I had not set up to trade this report, but wanted to watch and see what was going on.

Here is what happened on Thursday:

JPY Tokyo Core Consumer Price Index YoY
– Stats

Previous = -2.1%

Forecast = -2.0%

Actual = -2.2%
Bad – the “actual” came out lower then “forecast” by 0.2%, and lower then “previous” by 0.1%.

JPY National Core Consumer Price Index YoY – Stats

Previous = -2.0%

Forecast = -2.3%

Actual = -2.3%
Bad – the “actual” came out at the “forecast“ by 0.1% and lower then the “previous” by 0.3%.

I watched only 5 currency pairs, AUD/JPY, CAD/JPY, EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY and
USD/JPY.

Only 3 currency pairs registered any amount of movement.

Here are the charts:

a one minute EUR/JPY chart

a one minute EUR/JPY chart

This currency pair EUR/JPY moved up about 24 PIPS in 14 minutes – the direction it should have moved.

a one minute GBP/JPY chart

a one minute GBP/JPY chart

This currency pair GBP/JPY moved up about 31 PIPS in 15 minutes – the direction it should have moved.

a one minute USD/JPY chart

a one minute USD/JPY chart

This currency pair USD/JPY moved up only about 9 PIPS in 15 minutes – the direction it should have moved.

Looks like the currency pair GBP/JPY had the best move for the second month in a row.

The next scheduled release of these two reports on Monday, 11-23-09 at 7:30 PM ET, at this point in time there may be additional reports released at the same time.

I will probably post a “preview“ a day or two prior.

Stay tuned!
